Men's Cross Country, Bracken Take Second at SSC Championship

LAKELAND, Fla. – In the hunt of its fifth Sunshine State Conference title, Saint Leo men's cross country fell just four points shy of the 2021 title at Holloway Park in Lakeland, Fla. Saturday morning. The Lions finished with 50 points, falling shy of the Eagles of Embry-Riddle (46).
 
Saint Leo placed three runners inside the top-5 of the race where all three, Shane Bracken, Arthur Cosson, and Lucas Liard, were named to the Sunshine State Conference All-Championship team. Bracken paced the team and attempted to run down SSC individual champion, Mason Jones (Florida Southern) around the final few turns and finished in second place at 24:34.81 on the 8K course. Embry-Riddle won the team title with 46 total points scoring from third, sixth, ninth, 13th, and 15th places. 
 
Cosson and Liard crossed the finish line together for a fourth (25:07.46) and fifth (25:07.86) place in the championship race, respectively.
 
Yassin Raffay came across the line in 16th place (25:51.29), while Alex Giraudineau crossed in 23rd (26:33.26) for the final two point scorers for the Green and Gold. Fabio Fornarelli finished in 24th place to put six runners inside the top-25 of the 100 competitors.
