WINTER HAVEN, Fla.  – The Saint Leo Lions opened the NCAA Division II South Region Crossover rolling over the West Alabama Tigers 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-15) Friday afternoon in the Advent Health Fieldhouse. The dominant victory raised the Lions' overall record to 8-12 while lowering the Tiger's season mark to 1-15 overall.

Brooke Turner put up double digits on both sides of the ball against the Gulf South Conference foes. The outside hitter racked up 13 kills, 10 digs, and added a serve ace to her stellar day.

On the service line,
Skylar Singleton registered two aces while Turner and
Anna Garrett added one apiece. Garrett earned her season's second-highest assist performance with 44 over the West Alabama.Â

Garret enjoyed setting up
Elizabeth Sandoval, who paced the Green and Gold's offense with 16 kills followed by Turner with 13 and 11 by
Margaret Schirm.
Madi Certain also made an impact at the net with nine kills, two blocks, and a pair of digs.

Payton Bellano, whipped up 29 digs in the three-set match.Â

Saint Leo will continue against the GSC opponents in tomorrow's final day of the South Region Crossover. Saturday, Oct. 23 holds two matches for Saint Leo. The Lions will face Lee with the first serve slatted for 10:00 a.m. and wrap up the neutral site tournament against Montevallo starting at 4:45 p.m.
