SAINT LEO, Fla. – After going 2-0 in the circle for no. 8 Saint Leo last week, sophomore right-handed pitcher
Rachel Bean earned the final Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week honor, presented by Jimmy John's announced Monday, March 16 by the league office.
Bean went 2-0 with one complete game shutout while logging 13.1 innings of work. In those 13.1 inning, the Highlands Ranch, Colo. native fanned 10 batters and held the 47 batters faced to a .089 batting average, allowing just four hits in two games.
Bean first appeared in the circle for the Lions against Minnesota Duluth where she went 6.1 innings of relief, through extra-innings, where Saint Leo won 5-4 in the 10
th inning. She later got the nod and tossed the complete game against Bloomsburg to close out the week events with a seven-inning complete game with six strikeouts and just three hits.
Bean's player/pitcher of the week joins
Alexis Miniet (February 2) and
Sadi Avants (March 9) weekly honors for the 2020 season.
Saint Leo closed the year with a 23-7 record after the shortened season due to the coronavirus-19 outbreak.
