SAINT LEO, Fla. – No. 8 Saint Leo softball received two complete game shutouts from the circle in
Sara Neuman and
Rachel Bean to sweep a doubleheader from Bloomsburg at University Softball Stadium, 4-0, 3-0.

The Lions saw Neuman earn the win in game one with a pair of strikeouts allowing six hits on the day. The sophomore Bean followed that up with a stellar performance with the complete game allowing just three hits and six strikeouts holding opponents to a .120 average.

Emily Pilon and
Alli Jaquith paced the team offensively putting together a .500 clip as Pilon went 3-for-6 and Jaquith 2-for-4. Pilon led the team in scoring with two runs while
Alexis Miniet led the team with two RBI with one hit, a triple in game two.

Playing in just one game,
Bethany Kursch went 2-for-3, using the long ball to score a run and collect an RBI.
Brigette Soza found a 1-for-2 day at the plate with one run scored while
Bayley Williams,
Maddy Lynn and Miniet were all credited with a run scored on the afternoon.

Saint Leo got things rolling quickly in the first game with two runs in the bottom of the first as
Sarah Pauscher hit a sacfly to right field scoring

Amanda James hit a sacfly to right field scoring Pilon for the fourth and final run of the game. Neuman would finish off her game with a 1-2-3 sixth inning and strand a runner at first in the seventh to go on for her third win of the year.

Rachel Bean came out throwing darts to the Huskies picking up three straight strikeouts in game two; swinging, looking, swinging.

The two teams played three complete scoreless frames. With Williams on first, Miniet connected on the hit-and-run and laced a ball right past the shortstop and into left-center allowing Williams to come around to score and Miniet to go into third standing up.

Miniet would later come in to score on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. Looking to add more runs on,
Bethany Kursch took her first pitch of the sixth inning to deep left field for a solo homer bringing the game to its 3-0 finale.

Bean closed the door in the seventh with a 1-2-3 inning with a flyout to center, groundout to short and a weak grounder back to herself. Â

The Lions will host the Panthers of Florida Tech for a three-game SSC series Friday and Saturday at University Softball Stadium. First pitch Friday is slated for 7 p.m.
