#1 Saints Tame Lions; Buque Goes 6-For-6 in Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Saint Leo men's lacrosse team was unable to upset the top-ranked Limestone Saints on Sunday in Daffin Park. The Lions fell 23-12 in the south region contest.
 
Despite the loss, senior attacker, Philip Buque, had a perfect day netting six goals off six shots and picked up a ground ball. Tyler Eames also recorded six points with a goal and five assists.
 
Faceoff Specialist, Jordan Williams, went 11-for-39 while Ian Areford earned 14 saves in the cage.

Limestone opened the game on a four-goal run. The Saints recorded its largest lead of the first half in the second quarter, 12-3, following an 8-2 run over the Green and Gold. In the last ten minutes of the second, Saint Leo slashed the nine-point game down to four, 12-8. Buque opened the third quarter recording his third of day to bring the game within three. Saint Leo and Limestone entered the fourth quarter still separated by three, 14-11. The Saints flexed in the fourth, topping the Lions 9-1, for a final score of 23-12.

On Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 a.m. the Saint Leo Lions will open play at University Turf Stadium for the first time in 2020. Saint Leo will welcome the Walsh Cavaliers to sunny Florida for the home opener.
