MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Saint Leo men's basketball completed the season sweep of Barry Saturday night in the regular-season finale with an 82-72 decision inside the Health & Sports Center. With the win, the Lions confirmed its spot in the Sunshine State Conference quarterfinals as the sixth seed.
Following the win, head coach
Lance Randall stated, "We sustained our energy and fight tonight all game. Wade [Coomer] had another huge night for us; Kyran [McClure] had some big free throws and buckets and Yalen [Reed] was dominant defensively in the second half."
"We received good work from Rusty [Moorer], Jared [Coomer], and Malik [Fuller] off the bench. A tough minded team. Saint Leo as a team earned a great SSC road win in Miami."

Kyran McClure,
Wade Coomer, and
Yalen Reed led the Lions in scoring where McClure turned in a game-high 27-point performance. Coomer capped off his double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds while Reed secured an 11-point, right rebound night.
As a team, the Lions shot 44.8-percent (26-58) from the field including a 37.5-percent (12-32) from beyond the arc and an 81.8-percent (18-22) night from the free-throw line. McClure paced the team at the line going 12-for-13 as
Wade Coomer led the team in three's with six, shooting 6-for-10 from downtown.Â
Saint Leo concludes the regular season with a 16-12 record with a 10-10 mark in the Sunshine State Conference while Barry finished with an 18-9 overall record and a 12-8 mark in league play.

The Buccaneers saw Tylan Birts lead the way with a team-high 24 points while he grabbed 10 boards on the night. Jake Kakar and Marcelo Perez joined Birts in double-figures in the loss with 16 and 10 points, respectively.

Back-to-back threes for the Lions by
Wade Coomer and
Tyler Carter, pushed the Green and Gold ahead by six early before holding a lead to the 12:12 mark before the Bucs flipped the score and took a 12-11 lead. After a quick exchanging of points, the Green and Gold regained a five-point lead, 22-17, before the Bucs rallied again and took a 23-22 lead with 8:31 to play. The rest of the first half would go back-and-forth and remain a one-possession game as the Lions headed into the break up by one, 33-32.

In the first five minutes of play in the second half, both teams would hold a slight lead but it would be the Lions who came out on top after gaining a 43-39 lead with 15:17 on the clock.
Wade Coomer's three pushed the Lions ahead where they would play from in front for the remainder of the contest, running out to their largest lead of 11, 78-67, with 49-ticks left before heading to the final of 82-72. The Lions closed the night out at the free-throw line adding a 15-for-18 mark at the line in the second half highlighted by
Kyran McClure's 10-for-11 performance in the second half alone, including the last two points of the night.

The Lions will remain in the south and will play in the Sunshine State Conference tournament for the second straight season. Saint Leo is scheduled to play Palm Beach Atlantic on Tuesday in the quarterfinals at 7 p.m.
