The Lions’ Fishing Trip Successful in West Palm Beach

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team recorded its second straight victory on Saturday, defeating the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic, 73-56. The Lions' dominant performance improved the Green and Gold's season and conference record to .500 on year; 12-12, 8-8 in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC).

Saint Leo (12-12, 8-8 SSC) overpowered PBA (3-20, 1-15 SSC) with four shooters scoring double-digits. Alex Button led the scoring with 18 points while Alani Gallagher registered a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Casey O'Shaughnessy and Amanda Ulrich added 15 and 14 points, respectively.

"Every coach loves balanced scoring but today was extra special," explained head coach Anthony Crocitto. "We have players buying into their roles and participating at 100% into the system. The entire team's, coaches, scout players, trainers, and managers work in and out of practice is in measurable. A lot of people only look at the scoring but it takes this incredible village, that we continue to build, to win these games in such a great conference."

Palm Beach Atlantic edged the Lions in the third quarter by one, 18-17. The light damage was enough to trigger the Lions' offense. The Green and Gold hammered out a 23-point fourth quarter to capture the confident 73-56 decision.

Beyond the Boxscore
  • Gallagher tallied the eighth double-double of her junior campaign, 11th career.
