SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo head coach
Erin Kinberger earned wins No. 300 and No. 301 with a pair of shutout wins Saturday to open up the Saint Leo Tournament at University Softball Stadium as No. 25 Saint Leo knocked off the University of Virginia's College at Wise and Flagler. Â

The Lions blanked the Cavaliers in five innings before outlasting the Saints in seven innings to close day one of triple-header action.

Kayla Betts and
Madi Mott got the nods for the Green and Gold and each picked up wins in the circle. The duo combined for 12 of the 13 daily strikeouts with six apiece.Â

Senior infielder,
Kacie Kelly went a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate with one double, two RBI and two runs scored. Five other batters picked up two hits while four others notched a hit as the Green and Gold scattered 18 hits on the day.

Saint Leo jumped on UVa. Wise early with one run in the first before plating four in the second, five in the third and one in the fourth.
Kayla Betts hurled a gem going four strong innings with just a single hit with six strikeouts and two walks. Kelly,
Grace Spitulski, and Ali Jaquith all went 2-for-2 from the plate with two runs scored.

A pitchers' duel for the Saints and Lions ended in the fifth when the Green and Gold cracked the deadlock with three runs in the bottom of the frame. What seems to be the Green and Gold's inning,

Grace Sobieski before
Bethany Kursch singled through the same gap and scored James.

Madi Mott came in and would get out of the game allowing a runner to reach in the sixth and a pair of runners in the seventh but got the pinch hitter to foul pop up to end the game.
