  • RECORDS: Saint Leo 0-5 | #38 Quincy 0-0
  • Saint Leo The Lions open the home portion of their 2020 schedule this Friday and Saturday with a three-game set against the Quincy Hawks. The Lions were 18-8 at home last season and look to get started on the right foot this weekend.
  • Saint Leo has suffered five-straight losses to open the year including a trio of neutral site contests in Tampa and a two-game doubleheader drop at Lee. Senior Amir Wright has been the go-to offensive threat for the Lions so far as he has posted a .368 batting average while patrolling centerfield. Senior Jacob Reimold has also posted a .300-plus batting average this season with three RBI. Junior Transfer Sam Crail leads the team in RBI with six. On the mound, preseason All-Region selection McCabe Sargent leads the team in innings pitched with 10.2 while also boasting a 2.53 ERA.
  • #38 Quincy opens the 2020 season this weekend. Quincy is coming off a 32-20 campaign last year where the Hawks started off the season hot by winning the first 18 of 22 games, but lost momentum at the end by dropping their last 11 of 14 games which included postseason play. Despite a rough stretch at the end, the Hawks still made their 5th consecutive NCAA Midwest Regional as a 6-seed.
  • The Hawks were picked to finish second in the 2020 Great Lakes Valley Conference Preseason Poll. In 2020, the Hawks will return a plethora of experience. The roster is bolstered with fourteen seniors, including left-handed starting pitcher Riley Martin, redshirt senior outfielder Nolan Snyder, and first baseman/designated hitter Michael Nielsen.
  • HISTORY: According to available records this will be the first all-time meeting between the Hawks and Lions on the diamond.

  • Saint Leo in on the hunt for its first win of the decade after dropping a 19-10 decision to #7 Rollins on Saturday. The Lions saw Ashlee Wilsynski and Sam Nolan each earning a hattrick. Four others found the back of the net for the Green and Gold in the loss. Erin Davis took the loss in the net after 37 minutes in goal.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne opened the season in the win column, defeating Belmont Abbey 20-15 on Saturday. Cathleen Gaffney dished out seven assists and became the all-time leader in career assists for the Bears. Meanwhile, Alyssa Sack tallied eight goals in the season opener.
  • HISTORY:The Lions and Bears last met on March 10, 2018 at University Turf Stadium. Saint Leo rolled over the Bears 18-4 that Sunday afternoon. Saint Leo last traveled to Hickory, N.C. on March 2, 2018. Oddly enough, the Lions defeated the Bears 18-4, also in 2018.
  • Limestone dominated Converse, 22-1, on Wednesday to open the year with a pair of victories at Saints Field. Julia Foster and Elizabeth Muscella recorded career-high five goals apiece. Meanwhile, Britannie Ouimet dished out six assists. Three Saints shared goal tending responsibly with Teja Gallop taking the win.
  • On the season, Ouimet is the Saints point leader with 14 (4g, 10a) followed by Foster with 11 points (9g, 2a). In the net, Gallop has earned both starts where she has faced 21 shots, earning nine stops.
  • HISTORY:Sunday marks the first time Saint Leo will face the Limestone Saints while under the direction of head coach Caitlin Hansen. The teams last met on March 30, 2017 in Gaffney, S.C. where #7 Limestone defended its home turf, 18-9.
  • RECORDS: #25 Saint Leo 7-2 | UVa. Wise 2-0 | Flagler 6-2
  • #25 Saint Leo is coming off a 3-2 weekend at the Florida Tech Invitational where the Lions earned wins over West Alabama (2-1), West Georgia (5-2), and No. 18 Alabama-Huntsville (6-3). In the comeback win over the Chargers Sunday, the Lions posted four runs in the bottom of the fifth.
  • Sarah Pauscher and Maddy Lynn paced the team in the win over UAH, going 3-for-4 at the plate while Sadi Avants and Bethany Kursch each jump started the offense and finished with two RBI on the day.
  • On the year, Kacie Kelly leads the team with a .407 batting average where four of her 11 hits are for extra bases including her first career homerun against West Georgia Feb. 7. She leads the team in hits (11) and runs (9).
  • The Green and Gold's pitching staff is on fire fanning 71 batters in 61 innings of work where three pitchers are in double-digits with Madi Mott leading the way with 32 in 26.2 innings logged. Avants stands at 16 K's in 12 IP with freshman Kayla Betts, who has yet to allow a run, is at 14 K's in 11 IP.
  • U of Virigina at Wise travels to Florida having not played since Feb. 2 when the Cavaliers used just 10 innings to complete the sweep of Virginia State, 11-3 and 12-0 both in five innings. After two games, Kaylee Jones leads the team at the plate going 6-for-7 with two doubles and a home run with four runs scored.
  • McKenna Falwell is the leader on the pitching staff with a 1-0 record and a 0.00 ERA with 10 strikeouts in five innings.
  • Flaglerwill travel west with a 6-2 record after posting a 3-1 record at its home Old Coast Classic tournament with wins over Tampa, Embry-Riddle and Eckerd. Through eight games, NaJah Gerrald leads the team from the plate with a .476 clip with one triple and one double and five runs scored.
  • Kyra Gipson holds a 5-0 record in the circle and a 0.99 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 28.1 IP while tossing four complete games.
  • HISTORYThis is the first meeting between the Lions and Cavaliers while it will be the 25th matchup in the past 10 years with the Lions and Saints. Saint Leo holds a 17-7 mark in the last 10 years, winning 12 straight dating back to 2014. Last year in St. Augustine, the Lions swept the series 4-2, 8-0 (5 innings).

  • Saint Leo The Lions opened the season last weekend in Tavares, Fla. with a pair of victories over Warner and Lake Sumter. The 2-0 mark is the best start in program history.
  • The 2020 roster boasts 16 members which allows first year head coach Michael Shearer the flexibility to adjust the lineups and pairings early in the season. He made a couple of lineup changes in the opening weekend as the Lions won a pair of 5-0 matches with just one individual match going to three sets. Redshirt sophomore Anna Garrett and junior Nina Vattovaz opened the year at No. 1 for the Lions.
  • Webber opens the 2020 season this weekend. The Warriors went 17-12 last season and return a roster riddled with upperclassmen. The Warriors won two matches at last year's AVCA Small College Beach Championships before dropping their final three matches including a 3-2 setback in the third place contest.
  • Palm Beach Atlantic begins their inaugural season this weekend with a home tri-match. The Sailfish, who have had a very successful indoor volleyball program in recent memory, make their way to the beach courts to become the fifth Sunshine State Conference school to add the emerging sport.
  • HISTORY: The Lions are 2-0 all-time against Webber including a 3-2 victory in 2018 and a 4-1 win in 2019. The meeting with PBA will be the first time on the sand the Lions and Sailfish have met.
  • RECORDS: Saint Leo 0-1 | Alabama-Huntsville 1-0
  • Saint Leo dropped a 16-8 final opening the year against #20 Colorado Mesa on Saturday. The Lions were paced by Tyler Eames with three goals for his three points supported by four other goal scorers. Ian Areford earned 16 stops between the pipes.
  • Alabama-Huntsville opened the year with a conference win, defeating Lander, 13-7. Luke Levette netted four goals during a six-point performance followed by Kevin Coppinger with a hattrick during his three-point day. Seven Chargers contributed goals in the dominate victory. Zak Welsh protected the Chargers' net with 14 saves.
  • HISTORY: Last meeting on Feb. 9, 2019, Saint Leo took care of Alabama-Huntsville in a confident 23-12 decision at University Turf Stadium. Saint Leo last traveled to Charger Park on Feb. 3, 2018, where the Green and Gold snagged an 18-10 win.
  • RECORDS: Saint Leo 11-12, 7-8 SSC | Palm Beach Atlantic 3-19, 1-14 SSC
  • Saint Leo enjoyed a bye week after defeating Rollins 63-48 on Saturday in the Bowman Center. Amanda Ulrich broke out an 18-point game which was proceeded by a 19-point night at Tampa, earning her career's first SSC Player of the Week honor on Monday.
  • On the season, Ulrich paces the Green and Gold offense with 14.8 ppg supported by Alani Gallagher with 13.6 and Alex Button with 13.2 ppg. Gallagher had become a dominate presence inside the paint with 8.1 rpg and 30 blocks.
  • Saint Leo sits fifth in the league standings with a 7-8 conference mark with Nova Southeastern. The Sharks hold the fourth spot by a thin thread as Nova enters the weekend with a .500 record at 11-11. Among the SSC statistical leaders is Alex Button (1st in 3-pt field goal percentage), Alani Gallagher (2nd in blocked shots and 4th in rebounding), and Amanda Ulrich (5th in scoring). As a unit, the Lions average 71.2 points per game (ppg) alongside 36.1 rebounds per game (rpg).
  • Palm Beach Atlantic looks to snap a five-game losing skid. On Wednesday, the Sailfish dropped a 54-42 decision at Barry. Sia Williams and Claire Bady put up double-digits for the 'Fish with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Kennedi Rodgers snagged 12 rebounds in the loss.
  • On the season, Williams paces the 'Fish with 11.3 ppg game helped by Avree Carpenter with 10.6 ppg. Off the window, Ciara Cumbie averages a team-hgih 7.6 rpg.
  • PBA enters the weekend 11th in the SSC. The 'Fish average 54 ppg paired with 34.5 rpg.
  • HISTORY: Last meeting in the Bowman Center on Jan. 4, the Lions caught a 76-52 with over the 'Fish. Dec. 2, 2018 marks the last trip the Lions took to West Palm Beach, Fla. To open the 2018-19 series with PBA, Saint Leo slipped by PBA, 50-45.

  • Saint Leo heads to West Palm Beach looking for revenge on the season series and looking to get back into the win column after suffering a 65-62 heartbreaker to Rollins on Feb. 8. In the loss, Kyran McClure dropped 31 points for the Green and Gold, and was the lone double-digit contributor.
  • On the year, McClure leads the team in scoring at 21.5 points per game (ppg) while Isaiah hill is second at 16.7 ppg and Rusty Moorer in third at 10.9 ppg.
  • PBA welcomes the Lions after knocking off Barry 100-95 where six players scored double-figures led by Malek Barber with 22 points. Jules Jasmin and Dan Largey joined in at 19 points.
  • On the season, Largey leads the team in scoring at 17.4 ppg while Jasmin (16.4 ppg), De'Ondre Jackson (14.2 ppg), and Darhius Nunn (14.0 ppg) all average double-digits.
  • HISTORY: In the matchup earlier this season, the Sailfish left the Bowman Center with an 89-76 win where McClure led all scorers with 28 points. Largey led the Sailfish with 20 points.
