O’Dette Announces Staff Promotions and Additions

Feb 12, 2020

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo baseball head coach Rick O'Dette announced the elevation of Josh Keim into the assistant coach /recruiting coordinator role for the program while T.J. Marik joined the staff as a graduate assistant coach filling the role left open by Keim.

Keim joined the Saint Leo baseball staff as an assistant coach in the Fall of 2019. He is a former player under coach O'Dette and brought with him four years of NCAA Division II assistant coaching experience.

"We are excited to promote Josh to this position," said O'Dette. "He has been a recruiting coordinator for the past four years at Quincy, which is a top 25 program. His attention to detail and his relationship to the players has been seamless."

Keim spent the last four seasons as the head assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Quincy University in Quincy, Ill. The Hawks posted a 149-79 record during his time on the staff and the team achieved a top-10 national ranking all four years.

The Hawks advanced to four-straight NCAA Tournaments under his leadership including winning the 2017 Midwest Regional. QU earned two Great Lakes Valley Championships during his time including most recently in 2018.

In the summer of 2019, Keim served as the Field Manager for the Rockford Rivets of the Northwoods League. The Rivets posted their second most wins in franchise history with 33. Keim also served as the hitting coach for the Rivets in 2016.

Marik is a former NCAA Division I baseball student-athlete from both Austin Peay University and North Kentucky University. He was named to the Johnny Bench Award Watch List before being forced to retire due to injury. During his final season he spent time as a student-assistant coach for NKU.

"Coach Marik is a young and up and coming coach," said O'Dette. "He has a great work ethic and will help our program in many ways."

Marik graduated from UNK in December of 2018 with a bachelor's in organizational leadership with a focus on health education.

Following graduation he took a position as head assistant coach at Roosevelt University in Chicago, Ill. He helped coach two All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Second Team honorees. He also spent this past summer as a hitting coach for the Rockford Rivets of the Northwoods League where the team won 33 games.

Keim, Marik and the rest of the Lions will return to action this Friday at 3 p.m. as they host Quincy in the Lions home opener.
