MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference announced the 2020 Coaches' Preseason Poll, Friday, Jan. 17 where the Saint Leo University softball team was tabbed to finish third on the year.
 
After four straight seasons as being picked to finish first, the Green and Gold are tabbed to finish tied for third with Tampa in the preseason poll with a total of 80 points. The Lions and Spartans are behind Florida Tech, who won the 2019 title, in second place with 82 points and the preseason favorite Rollins (93 points).
 
The Tars received seven of the 11 first-place votes with the Panthers tallying three and the Spartans one.
 
Saint Leo is coming off posting a 31-18 record and a 20-10 mark in the SSC with the program's fourth straight trip to the NCAA postseason. The Green and Gold tied finished behind Florida Tech, Tampa and Rollins a season ago.
 
The Lions return 17 players and add three freshman and three junior transfers to the 2020 roster. Saint Leo opens the season at the Gulf Shores Invitational Jan. 31-Feb. 2.
