The Saint Leo women's soccer program will host Mississippi College on Friday, September 6 at 7 p.m. to kickoff the Lions' 2019 season, under the direction of first-year head coach Dr.
Peter McGahey. McGahey joins the Lions after a six-year stint at Central Michigan. The program's fourth head coach welcomes 13 newcomers including nine freshmen and four transfers. Among the new faces are 18 returners, who saw the Lions go 3-10-2 overall in 2018, 1-7-2 in the Sunshine State Conference.
The Green and Gold return five of their top-six offensive players from last season.
Bailey Hern started 14 of the 15 games where she netted a pair of goals. She was followed by
Adriana Tirado with a goal and an assist and
Carolina Solis-Deleon with five goals.
On the backline,
Rebecca Anderson,
Emily Baker and
Evelina Rosendahl return to help defensive efforts.
In the net, starting goalkeeper,
Julia Ortiz returns for her senior campaign after tallying 58 saves last season. She enters her season finale with 101 saves.
