Duarte Signs Pro Contract in Georgia

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Former Saint Leo men's basketball student-athlete Daniel Duarte recently signed a professional contract with Mgzavrebi-Armia in Tbilisi, Georgia.
 
Duarte, a two-year member of the Green and Gold, capped off his career for the Lions with 27 games played his senior season with 494 minutes of action. The Hialeah, Fla. Native tallied 143 points with 35 rebounds, 26 assists and nine steals.
 
In his Green and Gold career he scored 350 points in 57 games, including 75 rebounds.
 
"I am a pro!" Daniel Duarte mentioned after signing his contract. "My journey was not the smoothest but, that is what made me into the person I am today. I couldn't be more grateful and thankful for this opportunity. I will be playing basketball this season in Georgia. I want to thank everyone that I have crossed paths with and has helped me along the way."
 
Mgzavrebi-Armia competes in the Georgia-Superleague and look to improve on the 17-10 season in 2018-19, which the group won the championship 75-65 over the Dinamo Tbilisi.

Duarte joins Junior Searcy as the last two student-athletes to leave the collegiate ranks for the Lions and play professionally, along with Spenser Mitchell (Palanga BC, Lithuania, c/o 2014) and Justin Satchell (Dosa, Dominican Republic, c/o 2017).
