Saint Leo Volleyball Announces 2019 Slate

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo volleyball head coach Jason Skoch announced the team's 2019 schedule Friday morning as the Lions face a 32-match schedule including 10 in the friendly confines of the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
 
The Lions will open the season at the Barry University Classic in Miami Shores, Fla. Saint Leo will face Minnesota State Mankato and East Stroudsburg on Friday, Sept. 6 at 1 and 5 p.m., respectively. Saint Anselm, one of 10 2018 NCAA Tournament participants on the Saint Leo schedule, and American International, who advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight last season, will round out the competition at Barry on Sept. 7.
 
Saint Leo will also travel to Indianapolis, Ind., Sept. 13-14 for the UIndy Invitational. The Lions will face host Indianapolis, Davenport, Northern Michigan and Saginaw Valley State over the two-day event.
 
Sunshine State Conference play opens Sept. 20 with a tough four-match opening schedule. The Lions will face four-straight NCAA Tournament participants from last season and three-straight top-25 teams. Saint Leo opens at home versus Florida Southern on Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. before traveling to the defending National Champions Tampa on Saturday at 4 p.m. The following weekend will feature a roadtrip to top-25 teams Palm Beach Atlantic (9/27) and Barry (9/28).
 
The Lions will head to the NCAA South Region Crossover in mid-October for four matches against opponents from the Gulf South Conference.
 
The tough stretch returns in late October as the Lions host Tampa (10/22), Barry (11/1) and Palm Beach Atlantic (11/2) while traveling to Florida Southern (10/29).
 
The Lions are looking to return to the NCAA South Regional for the seventh-straight season while under the new leadership of head coach Jason Skoch.
