SAINT LEO, Fla. – Recent Saint Leo baseball student-athlete
Brett Coffel became the third former Lion off the 2019 roster to sign a professional contract as he joined
Jared Morello and
Peyton Isaacson in the Frontier League earlier this week. Coffel signed with the Windy City Thunderbolts Saturday, June 8 after the team released a pair of outfielders to make room on the roster.

Coffel, a four-year member of the Lions, finished his career with a .311 batting average that included 158 games played, 40 doubles, three triples, 23 home runs and 111 runs driven in.

Coffel made his professional debut Sunday, June 9 against the Gateway Grizzlies. He registered three at bats while batting in the eight slot for the Thunderbolts. He posted 10 putouts and one assist from behind the plate.

The three former Lions will have a chance to meet on the field for the first time just before the All-Star break July 5-7 as the Thunderbolts and Joliet Slammers play a three-game series in Joliet.
