Four Lions Earn All-SSC Softball Honors

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo softball saw four student-athletes earn All-Sunshine State Conference honors in senior Shyanne DuBois, juniors Kacie Kelly and Sarah Pauscher and freshman Kendyl Crean. Voting for the All-SSC Softball Team is conducted among the league's softball head coaches and announced Thursday, May 2 by the conference office.
 
Kacie Kelly highlighted the All-SSC honors for the Green and Gold earning first team honors for the third time, making her tied with Desiree Croteau in program history for three first team all-conference honors1. Kelly's third straight first team honors marks the seventh-straight season a Lion has appeared on the first team2 and is the program's first shortstop first team all-conference selection since 20083.
 
The Jacksonville, Fla. native, who becomes the Lions' fourth shortstop all-conference first teamer4, led the Lions on the year in batting average (.378), on-base percentage (.480), runs scored (35), hits (54), walks (21), and total plate appearances (181).
 
Freshman Kendyl Crean (first base), junior Sarah Pauscher (outfield) and senior Shyanne DuBois (outfield) all earned All-SSC Second Team honors.
 
The second team honors for Shyanne DuBois are the second of her two-year Green and Gold career where she helped guide the Lions to a 31-16 overall record and a 20-10 record in the SSC. DuBois, a native of Carlisle, Iowa, led Saint Leo in doubles (11), sacrifice bunts (9), stolen bases (28), and putouts in the outfield (89).
 
Crean and Pauscher earned All-SSC honors for the first time in their careers. The Tarpon Springs, Fla. native, Crean led the Lions in her first year in home runs (7), runs batted in (35), sacrifice flies (3), hit-by-pitch (12), and putouts (172).
 
Pauscher, who hails from Elk Grove Village, Ill., paced the Green and Gold in slugging percentage (.530), triples (5), and total bases (70), while she was second in RBI (29) and home runs (4).
 
Saint Leo is awaiting the NCAA selection show on May 6 at 10 a.m. for its regional fate after coming in in the latest rankings (May 1) at no. 6 in the region where the top-eight teams advance to regional play.
