GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore
Shane Bracken and freshman
Paige Patterson of the Saint Leo men's and women's track teams were in action Saturday at the Tom Jones Memorial hosted by the University of Florida. Bracken posted his best time of the season in the 1,500m to make a strong bid for the NCAA Championships while Patterson took third in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Â
Bracken started the day as he competed in the 1,500m. The Foxford, Ireland native took third in the race with a blazing time of 3:44.73, just 45 hundredths of a second away from an automatic qualifying time. The 3:44.73 provisional time will most likely punch a ticket for Bracken to the postseason.
Â
Patterson posted a time of 11:20.95 in the steeplechase while finishing third behind a pair of NCAA Division I runners.
