BRADENTON, Fla. – The third-seeded Saint Leo Lions downed the sixth-seeded Tampa in a 4-2 clinch decision on Friday in the Sunshine State Conference Quarterfinals. The win earned the Lions a ticket to the conference semifinals to face the second-seed Lynn Fighting Knights on Saturday, April 27 at 2 p.m.
The Spartans clinched the doubles match point taking the first and second flights.
Nina Furmaniak took third singles (6-1, 6-2) followed by
Kristyna Jurkova's second singles win (6-2, 6-3).
Marta Vicens Miquel won her first singles three-set battle (6-1, 4-6, 6-4) to bring the match to 3-1.
Nastasia Jedrychowski clinched the match in sixth singles for the Green and Gold. Jedrychowski handed in a 6-1, 6-2 decision to extend the Lions stay at the conference championships.
