Women’s Track Ends Regular Season at USF

TAMPA, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's track team closed out the regular season Saturday at the South Florida Collegiate hosted by USF. The Lions brought home a pair of individual titles including the steeplechase and 800m.
 
Freshman Paige Patterson was the first to grace to top of the podium as she took the top spot in the 3,000m steeplechase in 11:56.23.
 
Freshman Aoife Mahony then led a group of five Lions in the 800m. Mahony took the top spot in 2:17.07. Junior Ashley Lindeman was the next to cross the line as she earned a ninth place finish in 2:25.47. Senior Noemi Anaya, who closed out her Lion career Saturday, took 18th with a time of 2:33.61. Freshman Caitlin Lewandowski and senior Heidi-Jay Churchill rounded out the finishers in 27th and 29th, respectively. Lewandowski clocked in at 2:53.31 while Churchill stopped the watch at 2:59.78.
 
The women's 4x400m relay team picked up a second place finish after completing the distance in 4:23.42.
 
Freshmen Tayler Wright and Vittoria Bonsanti Feniello earned top-five finishes in the 100m. Wright placed fourth with a time of 14.09 while Bonsanti Feniello made her track debut with a fifth place finish at 15.66.
 
Lindeman led a group of seven Lions in the 1,500m as she took fifth in 4:54.56. Anaya took 10th in 5:01.59 while fellow senior Laura Tobin finished seven spots back in 17th at 5:13.18. Junior Fatima Abu-Rumman came across next in 36th with a time of 5:36.79 while Lewandowski took 43rd in 5:57.10. The final two Lions were Churchill (44th, 5:59.07) and sophomore Anapaula Rios Rosales (46th, 6:13.48).
 
Freshman Maryleslie Javier earned a top-five finish in the 100m hurdles. The rookie competed in the hurdles for the first time at Saint Leo and posted a time of 19.61 while placing fifth.
 
Freshman Georgia Clode took eighth in the 400m as she rounded the track in 1:05.95.
 
The final two Lion finishers were Wright and Javier who took 12th and 13th, respectively, in the 200m. Wright finished in 29.82 while Javier stopped the clock at 30.21.
