SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 22 Saint Leo Lions efforts fell short at No. 6 Tampa in a 19-13 decision. The Lions opening second half offensive surge was met by a late Spartans run to take the nationally-ranked 'W.' The loss moved the overall record 13-3, 2-3 in the SSC.
Tied at 5-5, Tampa went on a six goal scoring streak to pull ahead 11-5 at the break. Saint Leo broke out a three-goal run to open the second half to slash the Spartans lead to three.
Kaci Archer got the Lions' offense started again leading to a four-goal run to tie the game at 12-12 with 17:38 remaining.
Tampa and Saint Leo each netted another goal to bring the game to 13 apiece. Then, the hosts generated a late six-goal streak to secure a 19-13 decision.
