Saint Leo – 28-14, 17-8 SSC
Barry – 13-32, 6-16 SSC
The Lions saw
Auria Mounts pitch a gem in the circle to pick up her 12th win of the year while going the distance allowing just four hits on the night. Mounts used just 64 pitches to her counterparts combined 101.
Sarah Pauscher went 2-for-2 to lead the Lions from the plate with a single to right in the first and a three-run homer in the second.
Shyanne DuBois,
Kacie Kelly,
Ashley Morris,
Ciara McCoy and
Kendyl Crean all tallied one hit on the night where it was Crean's fourth-inning grand slam that sent the Lions into the mercy rule against the Bucs.
Behind Kely and Pauscher's three runs scored, DuBois and McCoy were second with two apiece following by Crean's one run.
Ciara McCoy led off the fourth with a walk before DuBois jogged down to first on four straight balls followed by a bunt single by
Kacie Kelly. With a 3-2 count,
Sarah Pauscher walked to allow McCoy to come in for the seventh run of the game. With one out, and the bases juiced,
Kendyl Crean drove the first pitch she saw from Andrea Johnson to deep left center field for a grand slam pushing the Green and Gold over the threshold of mercy.
Auria Mounts went back to work in the top of the fifth and with defensive plays from the Lions, Saint Leo closed the door for a 11-0 game.
Emily Pilon caught the first out in the fifth after a 1-0 count to the leadoff batter.
Ashley Morris made a diving grab on a poorly laid down bunt in foul territory for two outs. After a five-pitch walk,
Kacie Kelly would range over in to shallow left field and catch the final out of the game.
