ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 18 Saint Leo Lions suffered a 13-12 loss to the Maryville Saints, who received votes in the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) national poll. Maryville clinched the nationally-ranked win slinging the game-winner with seven seconds left in regulation.
The Saint Leo Lions overcome a slow start to tie the game at 12 in the fourth quarter after Maryville took a 5-2 lead after the first quarter.
Philip Buque spearheaded the comeback efforts with seven goals taking nine shots.
CJ Stowell helped with a pair of goals.
Charlie Kurtenbach filled out the stat sheet with a goal and an assist, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
In goal,
Thomas Tatarian earned a double-digit day in goal with 10 stops. Maryville out-shot Saint Leo 52-32 but the Lions placed 25 shots on goal while the Saints only placed 23 on frame.
