COLUMBUS, Ga.- The No. 7 Saint Leo women's tennis team upset No. 3 Columbus State, 4-3, on Friday afternoon in the opening road contest for the Lions.
In doubles play, the Cougars jumped out to a 1-0 lead, winning all three flights by a score of 6-1, 6-3, 6-1.
In singles,
Marta Vicens Miquel battled in a three-set to register a win in flight no. 1 with a score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
Nina Furmaniak won third singles 6-3, 6-1, while
Madeleine Gauthier in five recorded a 6-0, 6-3 win.
Nastasia Jedrychowski clinched the match with a sixth singles victory 6-7, 6-1, 7-6.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. against No. 12 North Georgia, remaining in Columbus, Ga.
