GULF SHORES, Fla. – No. 5 Saint Leo fought West Georgia into the wee hours of the night before falling 6-5 in 10 innings, having another spilt on day two of the Gulf Shores Invitational. The Lions run-ruled Lee 13-1 in six innings before falling 6-5 in 10 innings to the Wolves.

Saint Leo (2-2) saw
Deanna Falciglia hit a .667 on the day going 2-for-3 with three walks and two runs scored. Kayliece Hooks continues to be on fire with a .571 on day two going 4-for-7 with four RBI, one run scored.

Shyanne DuBois led the team in RBI with five on the day and runs with four while going 3-for-3 in stolen bases in the two games. DuBois hit a .556 clip for the third best on the team, bringing her season total to a .529. Hooks and Falciglia lead the team on the year with a .571 average. Joining in the .500-plus club,
Kacie Kelly,
Maddy Lynn and
Sarah Pauscher hit an even .500 on the day in their respective games played.Â
On the day, the Lions outscored their opponents 18-7 in 16 innings of work.
Auria Mounts worked 10 innings allowing five unearned runs with nine strikeouts.
Rachel Bean tossed six innings allowing two earned runs and registered one strikeout.Â

Game 1 - #5 Saint Leo 13, Lee 1 (6 inns.)
Saint Leo started off the day hot again run-ruling the Lee Flames (2-1) 13-1 in six innings of work.

Kayleice Hooks all registered three hits in the game where DuBois led the team in RBI with five.

Tied after one, 1-1, the Lions used a five run fifth to take a 6-1 lead over the Flames. Heading to the fourth, Saint Leo added two more for a comfortable 8-1 lead. The Green and Gold were coming alive late in the game and tallied five more runs in the top of the sixth to push the game to 13-1 before
Auria Mounts came in to close the door, pitching the complete game.

Mounts tossed the six inning complete game for her second win of the year with seven strikeouts.

Game 2 – West Georgia 6, #5 Saint Leo 5 (10 inns.)
After another long game, the Lions saw a 2-1 early lead slip away in the top of the seventh to send the game into extra innings. Saint Leo allowed three runs in the top of the ninth before matching the Wolves with three of their own to keep things tied, 5-5. After West Georgia (3-1) got a go-ahead run across in the top of the 10th, Saint Leo got the tying run to third with two outs but a ground out sealed the win for the Wolves after three and a half hours of action.

Rachel Bean got the nod for the Lions and went 6.0 strong innings allowing seven hits and just two runs with one strikeout.
Auria Mounts came in for relief in the top of the seventh with runners on and couldn't hold the Wolves off the scoreboard.

Mounts tossed four more innings on the night allowed four unearned runs while picking up two more strikeouts.

No. 5 Saint Leo will battled little sleep with a 9 am central / 10 am eastern first pitch against Delta State before tackling Mississippi College at 11:30 am central / 12:30 pm eastern to close out the Gulf Shores Invitational. Â
