SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's lacrosse team dished out a 20-5 win over Westminster on Sunday.
"After a slower first half, we saw some team chemistry come together with a number of goals with assists," commented head coach
Caitlin Hansen.
Lexie Walstad and
Janee DeLuca earned six points respectively followed by
Leslie Ferguson with four. Walstad netted five goals and one assist while DeLuca registered a hat-trick and three assists. Ferguson also earned a hat-trick and added an assist.
Hansen continued, "On the backline,
Ashley Salvett and
Carson Clark had great performances." Clark's solid defensive game was paired with nine draw controls. Slavett, a junior transfer, has impacted the program giving the Green and Gold 20 possessions in just two games in the form of 12 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. Against Westminster, she picked up five ground balls while causing five turnovers.
In goal,
Erin Davis handed in eight saves in 48 minutes of work.
Rebecca Halley closed out the game while grabbing a save.
