Men's Golf Notes
  • Saint Leo will open up the spring season at the classic Florida Southern Matlock Intercollegiate Invitational in Lakeland, Fla. at the Lone Palm Golf Club. 
  • The Lions and the rest of the field will battle for two rounds Monday before a single final 18-holes Tuesday. 
  • Participating teams are No. 1 Barry, No. 2 Lynn, No. 3 Florida Tech, No. 4 Saint Leo, No. 5 West Florida, No. 6 Florida Southern, No. 10 Nova Southeastern, No. 13 Limestone No. 18 Rollins, Cal State-Monterey Bay, Georgia College, Valdosta State, Columbus State, Eckerd and Montevallo.

Men's Lacrosse Notes
  • The No. 9 Saint Leo Lions rolled over the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers 23-12 on Saturday in University Turf Stadium. The Green and Gold whipped up 12 goals in the first quarter alone on their way to their season-opening victory.
  • The Saint Leo (1-0) offensive attack was led by junior attack man Philip Buque with five goals and one assist. Charlie Kurtenbach, Ethan Ticehurst, and Devin Sparks each tallied hat-tricks. Kurtenbach handed in seven points with four assists added to his day. As a unit, the Lions put together three three-goal runs topped by a four-goal streak in the opening quarter.
  • Notre Dame de Namur took a 23-8 loss on Sunday at Palm Beach Atlantic.
  • Ethan Gilbert earned four points scoring three goals and an assist against the Sailfish.

Women's Basketball Notes
  • The Saint Leo women's basketball team was unable to recover from a six-point first quarter at Nova Southeastern Saturday afternoon. The Sharks escaped the Lions second-half surge, handing Saint Leo a 73-62 Sunshine State Conference loss. In the comeback efforts, Saint Leo improved its team shooting field goal percentage from 25.8-percent to a 61.5-percent.
  • Saint Leo (9-14, 5-10 SSC) had four shooters generate a double-digit performance paced by Asia Royster with 16 points. Casey Wortley (14), Gina Brierley (11), and Delaney Bernard (11) each put up double figures respectively. Royster went 7-for-12 from the floor, making 2-of-3 of her shots from downtown. She also earned a team-high six rebounds.
  • On the season, Wortley leads the Lions scoring and rebounding game. She enters the week averaging 11.1 PPG and 6.0 RPG.
  • Florida Tech is coming off two losses after facing Florida Southern (72-56) and Tampa (65-52). On Saturday at Tampa, Freshman November Morton paced the Panthers scoring as she was the only one to hit double digits with 11 points. Tereza Sedlakova and Fanny Hakanson both grabbed a team high four rebounds while Cheyenne Scott dished out three assists.
  • On the season, Graci Doana leads the Panther's offense averaging 9.2 PPG followed closely by Sedlakova with 9.1 PPG. Sedlakova and Kailyn Ebb lead Florida Tech off the glass with each snagging 5.8 RPG.
  • Last meeting in the Marion Bowman Activities Center on Wednesday, Jan. 9, Saint Leo topped Florida Tech 67-61 in comeback fashion. The Green and Gold had three players score in double-figures paced by Gallagher with 17 points followed by Bernard with 16 points and Brierley with 14 points. The fourth quarter jolt featured a team field goal percentage of 72.7-percent.

Men's Basketball Notes
  • Saint Leo men's basketball will travel to Melbourne on Wednesday to take on Florida Tech after dropping both contests last weekend to #14 Lynn (74-71) and at #7 Nova Southeastern (90-79). 
  • In the loss to the Sharks, Rusty Moorer and Malik Fuller notched career-highs where Moorer led all Saint Leo scorers with 23 points with Fuller chipping in with 13. Kyran McClure (15), Isaiah Hill (12) and Yalen Reed (12) all added double-figures. 
  • On the year, McClure leads the team in scoring with 17.7 points per game, just ahead of Junior Searcy (11.3) and Isaiah Hill (10.7). 
  • Florida Tech enters the matchup on a four-game skid after dropping its most recent game 81-63 at Tampa. 
  • In the loss, the Panthers were led by Derek Murphy with 19 points. 
  • On the year, Murphy leads the team with 22.5 points per game. Sesan Russell (17.5), Antonis Pefanis (13.2), and RJ Coil (11.2) all average double-digits for the Panthers.
