SAINT LEO, Fla. – The 16
th-ranked Saint Leo men's swimming team closed out its regular season Friday afternoon at the Marion Bowman Aquatics Center by toppling Rollins 126.5-78.5. Prior to the meet the Lions honored seniors
Clayton Howerton and Stanley "Kane" Klimczak.
But it was freshman
Hampus Lovinge who led the way on the afternoon. The Norrkoping, Sweden native led off the opening relay as the Lions won the 200 medley. He then took third in the 400 individual medley before topping the field in the 200 back.
Lovinge joined junior
Henrik Dahrendorff, freshman
Filip Bjorkholm and junior
Christian Cioffi in the medley relay as the quartet clocked in at 1:34.98. The rookie also was part of a podium sweep in the 400 IM. Bjorkholm led the way at 4:02.81, followed by Dahrendorff in second (4:10.50), while Lovinge finished third in 4:18.02. In the 200 back Lovinge touched first in 1:53.20.
Graduate transfer
Yann Corbel also had a strong showing with a pair of individual victories. The Dinard, France native won both the 1650 free and 500 free. He posted another NCAA "B" standard in the 1650 as he touched the wall in 15:57.79. Freshman
Matthew Daniel took second in the 1650 as he finished in 16:05.84. Corbel was joined by sophomore
Nic Petruska in the 500 free as the duo finished one-two. Corbel stopped the clock in 4:44.13 while Petruska touched in 4:55.55.
Dahrendorff earned a solo victory of his own as well as he took the 200 breast in 2:01.78. Daniel also followed suit with a victory in the 200 fly after he topped the field in 1:53.28.
The only other Lion victory came in the 100 free as junior
Michael Southward topped the podium with a time of 46.73.
The Lions will now begin preparing for the Sunshine State Conference Championships in Clearwater, Fla. February 21-
