Fitzi Named AVCA Honorable Mention All-America

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior Anilise Fitzi of the Saint Leo volleyball team was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-American the association announced Tuesday.
 
Fitzi is the first AVCA Honorable Mention All-American honoree for Saint Leo since the 2017 season when current redshirt junior Anna Garrett received the honor.
 
Fitzi currently leads the team in blocks (150), block assists (131), solo blocks (19) and hitting percentage (.360) while ranking second in total kills (321) and tied for second in service aces (40). The senior ranks third in the Sunshine State Conference in blocks, fourth in hitting percentage, 11th in service aces and 18th in kills. She also ranks 36th nationally in hitting percentage and 57th in blocks per set.
 
She was one of seven Sunshine State Conference student-athletes to earn honorable mention honors. Two SSC student-athletes earned first team honors including Marine Kinna and Sonja Udovcic from Lynn while Katie McKiel of Tampa represented the league on the second team.
 
Fitzi and the rest of the Lions will take to the court at 7 p.m. Thursday night against 11th-ranked Regis in the NCAA Championship Quarterfinals. The semifinal match is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. (EST) Friday night and will feature the winner of the Regis/Saint Leo contest and the winner of the Cal State San Bernardino/Molloy match.
