Nov 07, 2019

Live Coverage |
  • Saint Leo heads south for a pair of Sunshine State Conference matches at Nova Southeastern and Lynn.
  • The Lions have five matches left in the regular season and were recently ranked fifth in the NCAA South Region Rankings. Lynn picked up a second place position while Nova Southeastern did not appear in the 10-team poll.
  • Saint Leo leads the all-time series with Lynn, 30-14, and the Lions have won nine of the last 10 meetings between the two programs. The last win by the Fighting Knights in the series came Nov. 11, 2016 in Boca Raton, 3-2. Saint Leo defeated Lynn 3-0 earlier this season at home.
  • Saint Leo leads the all-time series with Nova Southeastern, 30-21, and has won seven of the last 10 matches versus the Sharks. The Sharks snapped a four-match win streak by the Lions in the series last season. Saint Leo won 3-0 earlier this year at home.
  • The Lions recently snapped a two-match losing streak and avenged an earlier season loss at home by defeating Eckerd on the road 3-1 Tuesday night. The victory moved the Lions a half game ahead of Barry for fourth in the SSC standings. Saint Leo currently sits four wins out of first place with five matches left to play in the season.
  • Senior Anilise Fitzi still leads the squad in total kills this season at 245 but junior Ashley Quero leads in kills per set at 2.79. Fellow junior Michelle Cuervo is second on the team in kills per set at 2.48 just edging out Fitzi who sits at 2.43. Fitzi has been dominant at the net with a team-best 110 blocks, 35 more than her next closest teammate.
  • Senior Victoria Omoregie sits just two kills out of sixth place all-time in school history. She currently sits at 1,050 career kills and needs two more to tie Danielle Bletso (2008-11) for sixth in the Saint Leo record book.
  • Nova Southeastern has dropped three of its last four matches including two-straight at Rollins and at Lynn. The Sharks are being led this season by Ally Ford who has 239 kills this season for an average of 3.27 per set. Brittany Landrum leads the team at the net with 96 total blocks including a team-best 15 solo stops.
  • Lynn has won eight-straight heading into Friday's match against Sunshine State Conference leader Tampa. The Knights only two conference losses this season came at Saint Leo, 3-0, and at Tampa, 3-2. The Lions' 3-0 victory over Lynn snapped a seven-match Fighting Knights win streak earlier this season.
  • The Fighting Knights are led by Sonja Udovcic and Marine Kinna who have 315 and 314 kills, respectively, this season. The duo is one of the top one-two punches in the SSC this season. Lauren Odom leads the team defensively with 98 total blocks, nearly double her next closest teammate.
