Lions Ledger: Men's Basketball Faces #7 Valdosta State and New Haven at Terrace Hotel Thanksgiving Classic

Saint Leo carries a five game win streak into the Terrace Hotel Thanksgiving Classic to take on No. 7 Valdosta State and New Haven. The Lions picked up a 75-70 win on Nov. 23 to open up Sunshine State Conference play, where Kyran McClure led the way with 21 points for the Gree and Gold.
Kyran McClure leads the team on the year in scoring with 16.8 points per game ahead of Isaiah Hill at 13.5 ppg. McClure has a 27-28 mark from the free throw line, which before his missed free throw with 25-seconds left against the Panthers was leading the country at 27-for-27, where his 96.4% is ranked 14th in the country.

Saint Leo averages 71.2 points per game while holding opponents to just 55.3 points per game, which is ranked second in the nation behind just West Alabama at 54.7.
No. 7 Valdosta State comes to Florida with a 5-1 record after dropping its most recent game to Union (Tenn.) 84-79. Darrell Jones led the way with 15 points.

HISTORY Saint Leo and Valdosta State will meet for the sixth time as the Green and Gold hold a 3-2 record all-time and on a three game win streak. The Lions picked up win no. 3 on Dec. 3, 2011 with a 69-59 final in the Marion Bowman Activities Center. In the game, assistant coach Cale Girten scored four points for the Lions. It will be the first meeting between Saint Leo and New Haven in program history.
