Women's Basketball Notes

• The Saint Leo women's basketball team fell 59-46 to Tampa on Wednesday. The Lions were unable to recover from a 15-point lead tallied by the Spartans in the first half. Saint Leo rallied in the third quarter, putting together a 10-point run after the break.
• Casey Wortley led the Lions efforts at Tampa with 14 points. She went 5-for-10 sinking 4-of-7 from the three-point range. Asia Royster joined Wortley in scoring double-figures with 11.
• On the season, Wortley paces the Green and Gold with a team-high 10.4 PPG and a team-high 5.8 RPG. The forward hosts the Buccaneers shooting 40.5-percent from the floor, 31.4-percent from the beyond the arch.
• Gina Brierley averages 9.3 PPG and 4.2 RPG as the team's assist leader with 63.
• Alani Gallagher holds the Lions' second highest rebound average with 5.0 snags per game.
• The Barry women's basketball team fended off the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 79-74 on Cesar Odio Court on Wednesday night. The win snapped a three-game losing skid for the Buccaneers.
• Ida Andersson scored a career-high 30 points, hitting 8-of-11 from three-point range to lead the Buccaneers. Nichel Tampa added 14 points and three steals. Harriet Swindells added 11 points and three assists.
• Andersson (15.2), Tampa (14.7), and Swindells (11.1) each average double-digit scoring on the season for Barry. Andersson also holds a team-high 7.3 RPG followed by Tampa with 5.2 RPG.
• The Matchup: Saint Leo has put together a team scoring average of 58.19 along with a 34.0 rebounds per game average. The Lions host the Buccaneers shooting 37.3-percent from the field, 33.3-percent from downtown and 62.7-percent from the line. Barry travels Northwest averaging 67 PPG paired with 34.4 RPG. The Bucs hold a team field goal percentage of 39.2-percent, 35.3-percent from the three-point range, and 68.8-percent at the charity stripe. Among the current Sunshine State Conference standings, Barry edges Saint Leo in eighth followed by the Lions in the nine spot.
• Last Meeting: In 2017-18, the two teams split, each winning at their home courts. Barry took the first game, 72-54, on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018. On Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 Saint Leo extended its win streak to three defeating Barry 68-61.

Men's Basketball Notes

• Saint Leo enters the game after topping Tampa 72-66 on the road for a third straight win. 
• The Lions were led by Kyran McClure for the third straight game, where he tallied 23 points in the win going 13-for-14 from the free throw line. Ty Forman finished second on the team with 14 points, just ahead of Isaiah Hill with 12 points.
• On the year, McClure remains the leader in scoring with 15.6 points per game after three consecutive games of 27, 27 and 23 points. Junior Searcy is second on the team in scoring at 11.9 ppg.
• Barry comes into the weekend after dropping a 67-63 decision to Palm Beach Atlantic on Jan. 16. In the loss, Daniel Mortensen and Milon Sheffield led the team with 13 points apiece while Tylan Birts tallied 12 points.
• On the year, Mortensen is the team leading averaging 15.0 ppg ahead of Birts at 10.8.
• The Matchup: Barry enters the matchup averaging 78.9 points per game while Saint Leo averages 73.0. On the defensive end, the Bucs hold opponents to 72.5 points, just lower than the Lions at 74.4. Saint Leo enters on a three-game win streak while Barry brings a two-game skid into the Bowman Center. A game that decides fifth place in the conference standings.
• The Series: In the past 10 years, the two teams are even at 10-10 with the Bucs holding a 7-1 record in the past four year including a season sweep in 2017-18.
