Women's Basketball Notes

• Saint Leo returned to the win column defeating Florida Tech 67-61 in the Marion Bowman Activities Center on Wednesday before enjoying a bye weekend.
• In the win, Saint Leo had three players score in double-figures paced by Alani Gallagher with 17 points followed by Delaney Bernard with 16 points and Gina Brierley with 14 points. The fourth quarter offensive explosion featured a team field goal percentage of 72.7-percent.
• On the season, the Lions scoring and rebounding is led by Casey Wortley averaging 10.2 PPG, 5.9 RPG. Wortley also enters the game with 23 season blocks, the third highest among the Sunshine State Conference.
• Just shy of a double-digit scoring average is Gina Brierley with 9.3 PPG. She leads the assist count with 59.
• Tampa was forced to visit the loss column by Nova Southeastern on Saturday. The Spartans fell 66-52 in Fort Lauderdale, unable to recover from the Sharks five three-pointers in the first quarter.
• On the season, Staja Tyghter and Dori Nagy lead the Spartans scoring with double-figure score averages. Tyghter puts up 13.9 PPG while Nagy adds in 13.3 PPG. Off the window, Nagy paces the Spartans with 8.9 RPG supported by Tyghter with 8.3 RPG.
• Emily Eshoo rounds off the top three scorers for Tampa with 9.9 PPG.
• The Matchup: Tampa currently sits as the sixth seed in the SSC standings hosting eighth seed Saint Leo. Saint Leo heads to down the road to Tampa averaging 59.0 PPG, 34.3 RPG, shooting a team-average of 38.1-percent from the floor, 32.5-percent beyond the arch, and 63.6-percent from the stripe. The Spartans hold a slightly higher scoring average with 61.7 PPG. Off the glass, the Spartans average 37.1 RPG. The team's season shooting average is 47.4-pecent, 32.2-percent from the three-point range and 72-pecent from the charity stripe.
• Last Meeting: Tampa swept Saint Leo during the 2017-18 season. The Lions dropped a 75-50 decision to the Spartans on Wed., Nov. 29 followed by a 56-35 road loss on Wed., Jan. 31.

Men's Basketball Notes

• Saint Leo travels to the Martinez Center to take on Tampa after taking down Florida Tech 71-57 at home Wednesday, Jan. 9.
• The Lions saw Kyran McClure score his second straight 27 point game, going a perfect 13-of-13 from the free throw line. Junior Searcy and Yalen Reed also found their way into double figures with 10 points apiece.
• On the year, McClure remains the team leader in scoring with 15.1 points per game with Junior Searcy in second at 12.5 ppg. Yalen Reed averages 10.6 ppg while leading the team in rebounds with 5.6 per game.
• Tampa enters the weekday matchup after a 94-78 setback to Nova Southeastern on Jan. 12. The Spartans saw Anthony Gamble score a game-high 25 points with Cedric Belemene tallying a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
• On the year, the Spartans see Gamble pace the team in scoring with 17.7 ppg with Vincent Biffle (13.8 ppg), Alberto Moreno (12.3 ppg), Pat Bacon (10 ppg), and Belemene (10 ppg) rounding out the double-figure scorers.
• The Matchup: Both teams look to gain ground in the SSC standings as the Lions average 71.3 points per game with the Spartans at 75.9. Despite the higher average, UT allows 77 points per game to the Green and Gold's 74.9.
