May 10, 2018

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo softball seniors, Brittany Creamer and Sommer Pollard were named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Creamer is now a three-time honoree where Pollard earns the honor for the first time.

Clearwater, Florida natives, Creamer and Pollard made the Academic All-District First Team for District 5 who includes the Gulf South Conference, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the Sunshine State Conference. By making the first team, Creamer and Pollard are eligible for the Academic All-America team, which will be released June 6.

Pollard graduated magna cum laude from Saint Leo University this past April with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, with a specialization in biomedical and health sciences, and a minor in chemistry. Pollard completed the University's rigorous Honors Program and was chosen by the faculty to receive the top distinction for students in the program, the Areté Award for Academic Excellence. Pollard impressed the faculty with her grades, her performance on the required oral examination for the program, and her Honors Program project, was a field guide for children to Weedon Island Preserve in St. Petersburg.

On the field for the Green and Gold, she is fifth on the team in batting average at .284 where she tallied 17 runs scored, four RBI and is a perfect 11-for-11 in stolen bases.

Creamer, a 2018 All-Sunshine State Conference second team selection, holds a .254/.325/.351 slash line heading into the NCAA postseason this weekend. Creamer, who graduated this past April with a degree in Business Administration, tallied 29 hits on the year and scored and drove in 13 runs. Creamer is a three-time First Team All-District 5 selection, in each year of eligibility. To be eligible, a student-athlete has to complete on year at its institution or has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

The Green and Gold duo are two of nine Sunshine State Conference representatives on the All-District team. Lynn tied with Saint Leo for having two student-athletes on the First Team, as Embry-Riddle, Florida Tech, Tampa, Barry, and Palm Beach Atlantic.

Saint Leo is set to take on Embry-Riddle in the first game of the regional at 4 p.m. ET followed by the host North Alabama and the Argonauts at 6:30 p.m. ET.
