SAINT LEO, Fla. – No. 15 Saint Leo women's lacrosse's onslaught offense wrecked Palm Beach Atlantic 21-3 in the Sunshine State Conference game on Saturday. The Lions pressing offensive generated 31 total points, raising the program's overall record to 11-2, 2-0 in the SSC.
The 31 points were tallied from 11 different sticks.
Leslie Ferguson led the attack netting six goals and five ground balls.
Lexie Walstad scored four and assisted in one posting a five point game.
Katherine Larson and
Kaylah Walstad each finished with four points.
Erin Davis,
Rebecca Halley and
Emma Crafton each saw time inside the crease. Davis collected one save, raising her goal keeping record to 11-1.
"It was nice to return home from a few games on the road with a conference victory," said head coach
Caitlin Hansen. "We had several different people get involved offensively.
Leslie Ferguson had a six goal first half to help us get things going and then 10 other people contributed on that side of the field. I was happy to see that about half of our goals were assisted in the game as well. We were unselfish offensively, which resulted in some very pretty goals."
Hansen continued, "Defensively,
Amanda Coppolo and her four caused turnovers headlined a solid defensive effort.
Courtney Ruppert came in off the bench and had a career day with two ground balls and two caused turnovers, which I was excited to see. We were also able to get all three goalies involved in the game and hold PBA to three goals on the day. This should give us some good confidence and motivation as we prepare for Florida Southern on Tuesday."
