DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – No. 11 Saint Leo women's tennis team knocked down Embry-Riddle 6-2 on Saturday. The weather shortened the match but not before the Lions raised their overall record to 14-5, 5-3 in the Sunshine State Conference.
"We came out flat again in doubles and had to come back from 0-5 down at no. 2 doubles," explained head coach
Chad Berryhill. "Embry-Riddle was ready for us today but our ladies stayed focused, despite tough conditions with the wind."

Marta Vicens Miquel and
Andrada Gordan pulled out an 8-6 win. Meanwhile, no. 3
Kristyna Jurkova and
Sophie Vlietstra were also battling for an 8-6 final.
No. 57, no. 1
Marta Vicens Miquel topped her opponent 6-4, 6-3. No. 2
Kristyna Jurkova rolled over her competition; 6-1, 6-3.
Madeleine Gauthier was unable to finish her match that was heading into a three set battle.
No. 5
Andrada Gordan (6-2, 6-0) and no. 6
Sophie Vlietstra (3-4, WR) took each of their matches.
Saint Leo continues play on the road. The Lions travel to Eckerd on Wednesday, April 11 for a 3:00 p.m. match start.
