SAINT LEO, Fla. – No. 2 seed Saint Leo executed a 5-0 win over No. 7 seed Palm Beach Atlantic during the NCAA South Regionals II Semifinals at the Saint Leo Tennis Center on Monday. Now 22-1, the Saint Leo Lions advance to the final round against No. 3 seed Lynn scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The NCAA South Regionals II Finals will be hosted at Saint Leo on Tuesday, May 1 starting at 10:00 a.m.
The Lions swept doubles play off a tie-breaker victory by second doubles team,
Francisco Aparicio and
Aurel Ciocanu; 9-8 (9-7). Third doubles,
Jaime Bueno and
Willem Van Den Akker finished first, earning an 8-1 win. First doubles, No. 2
Thomas Grinberg and
Vincent Suillerot, handed in an 8-4 decision.
First singles, No. 1
Thomas Grinberg raised his season record to 21-0 defeating No. 19 Pato Zarazua; 6-1, 6-2.
Francisco Aparicio clinched the match 6-3, 6-2 at fifth singles for the Green and Gold.
