SAINT LEO, Fla. – Coming into the game Monday night at Thomas B. Southard Stadium, the No. 16 Saint Leo baseball team had the Sunshine State Conference series locked up with a 2-0 record, while holding a 4-0-season record against the visiting Eckerd Tritons. The Lions defeated the Tritons 5-3 in the series finale to improve to 5-0 against Eckerd on the year.

Saint Leo, now sitting at 34-9, 17-7 SSC, saw
Drew Tumbelty earn the win on the bump improving to 6-1 on the year while
Peyton Isaacson earned his 13th save of the year. Tumbelty came in and pitched 1.2 innings of work with one strikeout while Isaacson pitched one inning with two strikeouts.

Ryan Nolan got the nod on the mound going 6.0 innings allowing one run on three hits with seven strikeouts.

Lane Stancil went 2-for-4 from the plate with one run scored and one RBI to lead the Green and Gold, as
Amir Wright,
Zach Scott,
Brett Coffel and
Derek Gibree all recorded a hit on the night.

The Lions took an early 1-0 lead after the first inning as
Zach Scott singled through the right side to score Wright from third. Both teams would play to a 1-0 score through five innings before the Lions tacked on two more in the bottom of the sixth.

Saint Leo scored two runs on one hit in the sixth inning as
Lane Stancil singled through the right side scoring Isaacson, and keeping runners on all bases. A wild pitch saw
Chase Turner come in from third to score the third run of the game.

A three-run seventh allowed the Tritons to tie things at 3-3 before the Lions answered with one in the bottom half of the frame.
Derek Gibree would score on a passed ball to push the Lions ahead, 4-3.

Saint Leo tacked on another run in the eighth inning as
Amir Wright poked one through the left side to drive in Stancil.

Leading 5-3, Isaacson came in and closed the door on the Tritons for his 13th save with two quick strikeouts followed by a fly out to center field.
