SAINT LEO, Fla. – Perfection. Saint Leo senior
Alison Mitts dominated the Lynn Fighting Knights Friday night to open the Sunshine State Conference series with her first career perfect game. Mitts recorded eight strikeouts in the seven innings where the Lions won 2-0.

Mitts pitched the perfect game with eight strikeouts where she moved to 8-4 on the year, leading the Lions (24-9, 8-8 SSC) to win the series opener. Catcher
Sommer Pollard helped Mitts with the perfect game catching the full game, tallying 10 putouts, including two foul pop-ups against the backstop.

Kacie Kelly went 2-for-3 where Morris and Pollard were credited with the two runs on the night. Pollard went 1-for-2 where
Shyanne DuBois,
Amanda James,
Sarah Pauscher and
Bailey McKenna all tallied a hit on the night.

Both the Fighting Knights and Lions played to a scoreless tie through five innings before the Lions could break things open with two runs in the sixth.
Sommer Pollard started things off with a bunt followed by a single off the pitcher's leg leaving two on with no outs.
Kacie Kelly singled to load the bases where
Shyanne DuBois singled to right field scoring Pollard.

Still with the bases loaded and no outs,
Amanda James singled to the shortstop scoring Morris for the second run. Saint Leo was unable to get any more supporting runs before Mitts came out and closed the door with a 1-2-3 top of the seventh.

Saint Leo and Lynn return to action March 24 at 1 p.m. at University Softball Stadium.
