DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – No. 8 Saint Leo softball traveled to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) for a Sunshine State Conference series where the Lions gave up three runs in the bottom of the seventh to fall 3-2. The loss sees the Lions fall to 14-4 and 4-3 in Sunshine State Conference play.

Maddy Lynn would get the Lions on the board first in the second inning with a double to center field scoring
Bailey McKenna.
Kacie Kelly's single to left field in the third inning gave the Green and Gold a 2-0 cushion after
Sommer Pollard came around to score.

A two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh allowed the Eagles to tie things at 2-2. Following a single to shortstop and a pitching change, ERAU would see Katy Thompson single to right field allowing Mackie Chandler to score in walk-off fashion.

Alison Mitts got the nod on the mound, going 6-1 innings allowing five hits and three runs suffering her first loss of the season.
Auria Mounts came in and pitched the final 0.1 inning giving up the hit that allowed for the winning run to cross the plate.

Sommer Pollard returned to the lineup after a short break where she led the offense Friday going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Shyanne DuBois,
Bailey McKenna, and
Maddy Lynn all followed Pollard with one hit on the night. McKenna was credited with the only other run scored for Saint Leo.

The Lions and Eagles return to action Saturday, March 3 at 1 p.m. where the two teams will play a scheduled Sunshine State Conference doubleheader.
