#23 Softball drops two at Rollins Saturday

WINTER PARK, Fla. – No. 23 Saint Leo softball dropped both ends of the twinbill at Rollins Saturday afternoon by scores of 7-4 and 6-5, in extra innings. The Lions fall to 9-3 on the year and 1-2 in Sunshine State Conference play.
 
Auria Mounts and Alison Mitts pitched for the Green and Gold Saturday where Mounts suffered both losses in both games. Mounts pitched the full 6.0 innings in game one with five hits and seven runs, six earned, while striking out seven batters.
 
Mitts started game two and went 5.0 innings with four strikeouts, seven hits and five runs, three of which were earned. Mounts came in and pitched the final 2.2 innings with two hits, one run and two strikeouts while going to extra innings and falling in the bottom of the eighth.
 
On the day, Kacie Kelly and Ashley Morris led the Lions from the plate going 3-for-7 where Kelly scored two runs with two doubles and three RBI. Brittany Creamer added three hits to the day going 3-for-6.
 
Maddy Lynn and Sarah Pauscher added two hits on the day, where Pauscher hit the lone long ball of the day with a solo shot in game one.
 
No. 23 Saint Leo will return home to host Florida Tech on February 23-24 for a three-game series starting at 7 p.m. Friday evening.
