Volleyball Notes
- Coming off three-straight victories the Lions return home for the final time this season as they honor their two seniors and try to make a final push for an NCAA Tournament berth.
- Saint Leo and Tampa meet for the 90th time on the volleyball court Friday night. The Spartans hold a commanding 84-5 record in the all-time series but four of the Lions five wins have come in the last five matches against the Spartans. Tampa snapped the Lions four-match win streak in the series earlier this year.
- The Lions have won six-straight against the Tars with the last Rollins victory in the series coming October 23, 2015 in Winter Park. The match was a 3-0 sweep by Rollins.
- Sophomore Ashley Quero led the Lions with 17 kills against the Spartans in Tampa back in October. She was one of three Lions in double-figures including Victoria Omoregie (13) and Annabella Arcari (12).
- Earlier this season the Lions swept the Tars 3-0 as six Lions finished with five or more kills and no single Lion reached double-figures. Freshman setter Cassandra Kamien dished out 37 assists over the three sets and distributed the ball well. Arcari finished with eight kills on just 10 swings for an incredible .800 hitting percentage. Overall the Lions hit .354 as a team in the victory.
- No. 9 Tampa has dropped two of its last three matches but still sits atop the Sunshine State Conference standings with an impressive 16-2 record. The two losses snapped a 19-match winning streak by the Spartans. Tampa is led by Katie McKiel and Sorrel Houghton who are each averaging over 3.7 kills per set.
- Rollins is in the midst of a seven-match losing streak heading into this weekend. The Tars last win came at the South Region Crossover in Orlando over Auburn Montgomery, 3-0. That win had snapped an 11-match losing skid. Leslie Seda leads the Tars with 1.73 kills per set and she is joined at the top by Sam Schlesman (1.69 kps) and Madison Jenkins (1.62 kps).
