Women's Basketball Notes

Saint Leo fell 85-47 in its SSC season opener at Eckerd. Saint Leo saw 13 Eckerd three-pointers from six different Tritons.
Gina Brierley tallied 11 points going 4-for-9 from the field. She added a pair of free throws, two rebounds, an assist and two steals to her night. Alani Gallagher grabbed team-high six rebounds.
On the season, Brierley and Casey Wortley average double digit scoring. Brierley heads to PBA averaging 11.2 PPG, shooting 40 FG%, 69 FT%. Wortley averages 10.6 PPG, holding a 46 FG%, 66 FT%. Wortley has added eight blocks to her work in the forward position.
Gallagher has grabbed team-high 34 rebounds, earning an average of 6.8 RPG. In addition, she has showcased seven blocks and seven steals.
Lynn dropped a 66-55 decision at Lynn on Wednesday to open play in the SSC.
Mina Salhin the scored 10 points in the opening quarter during her team-high 12 points at Lynn. Jonika Garvin finished with 11. Aniyah Ross led the Sailfish off the glass with six rebounds.
On the season, Garvin averages 13.8 PPG shooting 28 FG%, 81 FT%, along with 6.8 RPG. Ciara Cumbie averages 9.8 PPG while averaging team-high 7.0 RPG. In addition, Garvin has earned five blocks, four steals while Cubie has blocked four, snagged five steals.
Mina Salhin enters the game with 13 assists on the season and 7.0 PPG.
The Matchup: Last year, Saint Leo sweep Palm Beach Atlantic. On Sat., Dec. 2, 2017 the Lions caught the 'Fish on the road with a 54-46 decision. Saint Leo followed the eight-point decision with a 57-47 win on Sat., Jan. 20. The last time PBA topped Saint Leo was on Fri., Dec. 30, 2016 with an 86-80 final.

Men's Basketball Notes

Saint Leo looks to bounce back in conference play after suffering a 83-69 setback in the SSC opener at Eckerd on Wednesday. Ty Forman paced the Green and Gold with a career-high 17 points, ahead of Kyran McClure at 15 points, Isaiah Hill with 11 points and Junior Searcy with 10.
On the year, Kyran McClure leads the team in scoring with 13.3 points per game, 93 total points on the season. Tyler Carter is the team leader in rebounding hauling in 5.0 per game, ahead of Junior Searcy at 4.9.
PBA enters the game after falling to Lynn on Wednesday, 86-70, behind Jules Jasmin's team-high 18 points. De'Ondre Jackson tallied 13 points in the effort against the Fighting Knights.
The Sailfish are led by Jasmin who averages a team best 18 points per game where Jackson is second on the team at 13.3 ppg.
The Matchup: Last year, the two teams split the regular season with each team winning on their own court. Saint Leo fell 74-68 on Dec. 2 in West Palm Beach and won 76-75 in overtime in Saint Leo. In the Lions' win over the Sailfish, Deandre King, Junior Searcy and Isaiah Hill paced the team with 24 points, 15 points, and 11 points, respectively.
