Women's Basketball Notes
  • Saint Leo enjoyed a 50-42 victory over Flagler, who is ranked seventh in the southeast region, in the Lions' first road trip of the year on Tuesday.
  • Casey Wortley tallied a season-high 14 points along with five rebounds, two blocks and an assist. She was supported by Alani Gallagher with nine points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Gina Brierley helped with eight points, five rebounds and seven assists.
  • On the season, Wortley averages 12 PPG with a 50 FG%, 71 FT%. Gallagher leads the Lions' rebounding efforts with an average of 7 RPG. Brierley joins Wortley in double digit average scoring at 11.3 PPG.
  • Eckerd hosted Daemen and Le Moyne during the program's Thanksgiving Classic this past weekend. The Tritons split the tournament; defeating Daemen 57-49, dropping a 68-56 decision to Le Moyne.
  • Two Tritons scored in double figures against Daemen. Chelsea Johnson led the way with 18 points while Abby Whiteye added 14.
  • On the season, Johnson averages 13.8 PPG shooting a 48 FG%, 90 FT% after four games. Whiteye averages 11 PPG with a 43 FG%, 65 FT%. In addition, she shares the leading rebounding title with Armi Anttila with 5.3 RPG.
  • The Matchup: Last meeting, Eckerd earned a 70-45 win in Saint Petersburg on February 21, 2018 to earn the season sweep. In the Bowman Center, the Tritons slipped by the Lions 54-45 last January.

Men's Basketball Notes
  • Saint Leo opens up SSC play after dropping two contests at the Terrace Hotel Classic in Lakeland over the weekend. The Lions battled Stonehill Friday, falling 76-67 before falling to Merrimack 85-81. In the setback to the Warriors, the Lions erased a 16-point deficit at the half to close within two points with 10-seconds to play. 
  • On the year, Kyran McClure leads the team in scoring with 13 points per game (ppg) and 18 assists. The guard had seven assists on the season while grabbing 15 rebounds. 
  • Two other players average double-figures for the Lions in Junior Searcy, 11.5 ppg, and Yalen Reed, 11.0 ppg. Reed is second on the team in rebounds per game (rpg) with 5.0, just behind team leader Tyler Carter at 5.7 rpg. Searcy is third on the team in rpg at 4.8. Isaiah Hill paces the Green and Gold in steals with nine where Reed is the team leader in blocks with 10 total on the season. 
  • Eckerd enters the contest at 5-1 after dropping its first contest of the year at a weekend tournament against Virginia Union, 70-64. The Tritons bounced back with a 78-67 win over Minnesota State-Mankato. 
  • Three Tritons average double-digits led by Drushaun McLaurn who eclipsed the 100 point total on the year through six games with 100 even, for a 20 ppg average. Myron Hagins, 12.2 ppg, and Gianni Daily, 10 ppg, round out the three top scorers. McLaurn is the team leader in rebounds with 8.4 per game while dishing out 12 assists and picking up 10 steals, six behind team leader in Marco Behori (16). 
  • The Matchup: Last year, the Tritons swept the Lions (81-71 at Saint Leo | 84-69 at Eckerd). The Lions are looking to change fortunes against the Tritons, as Saint Leo has dropped the last four matchups against Eckerd. The last Green and Gold win in the series came on Jan. 27, 2016 inside the Marion Bowman Activities Center when Saint Leo topped the no. 10/11 Eckerd 87-84
