SAINT LEO, Fla. – For the 10
th time overall and sixth-in-a-row the Lions of the Saint Leo volleyball team will be heading to the NCAA Tournament. The team found out about the trip during an NCAA Selection Show Watch Party held on campus Sunday night. The Lions earned the No. 6 seed in the South Region and will be facing off against No. 3 seed Tampa in the opening round.

Palm Beach Atlantic, whom the Lions swept this season, earned the No. 1 seed and will host the eight-team regional starting next weekend. The Lions have four wins against foes at the regional including two over No. 1 seed PBA, one over No. 4 seed Florida Southern and one against No. 5 seed West Florida.

Saint Leo has advanced to two of the last three NCAA South Region Semifinals but the Lions are looking to return to the championship match of the region for the first time since 2009. Despite the Lions and Spartans storied history on the court this will be the first meeting between the two programs at the NCAA Regional since Tampa defeated Saint Leo 3-0 in the 2009 Regional Championship.

The Lions enter the 2018 postseason with a 17-14 season record and 12-8 in conference play. Saint Leo boasts five top-25 victories this season and won four of its final five matches to close out the regular season.
