MELBOURNE, Fla. – For the second time this season the Saint Leo volleyball team swept the Florida Tech Panthers 3-0. The Lions used a balanced offensive attack led by sophomore
Ashley Quero and junior
Nina Vattovaz who tallied 12 and 11 kills, respectively.

The victory moves Saint Leo to 14-13 overall and 9-7 in Sunshine State Conference play while the Panthers dropped to 9-18 on the season and 4-12 in league play.

Quero finished Saturday's match with a team-high 12 kills to go along with four digs. Vattovaz added four digs and a service ace to her 11 kills. Junior
Annabella Arcari came up just shy of double-digits with nine kills and a block.

Freshman
Cassandra Kamien dished out 36 assists in the match while posted a pair of service aces and five digs. Senior libero
Reggie Van Devender led the team with 12 digs while freshman
Payton Bellano contributed 11.

The Lions tallied 44 kills over the three sets while limiting the Panthers to just 31. Saint Leo hit .265 as a team while the Panthers came in at a .120 average.

Saint Leo trailed for just four serves the entire match and they all came within the first five points of the second set. The Lions cruised in the opening set 25-21 before taking the second set 25-20. The third set was much of the same as the Lions won 25-16.

Saint Leo will next be in action Friday, Sept. 2 at No. 17 Palm Beach Atlantic for a 7 p.m. match-up. Â Â
