WINTER PARK, Fla. – The No. 14 Saint Leo men's swimming team pushed its season record to 3-0 Friday afternoon with a 190-72 victory over Rollins in the team's first road meet of the season. Freshman
Hampus Lovinge led the way with three individual wins.
Lovinge, coming off his Sunshine State Conference Swimmer of the Week Award, won both the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke and 100 individual medley on Friday. He led a podium sweep in the fly with a time of 49.93 while freshman
Matthew Daniel and sophomore
Fridtjov Mork finished second and third, respectively. In the 100 back, he stopped the clock in 51.23. In his final win of the day in the IM he led another podium sweep winning the race in 52.60. Junior
Henrik Dahrendorff and freshman
Filip Bjorkholm took second and third, respectively.
Dahrendorff won two individual races and a relay crown as well. He picked up his first individual win in the 50 breaststroke before taking home the win in the 100 breaststroke. He touched the wall in 25.79 in the 50 before clocking in at 56.27 in the 100. He also joined up with senior Stanley "Kane" Klimczak, Daniel and Mork to win the 200 medley relay in 1:36.20.
Mork led the Lions to their third podium sweep of the day in the 100 freestyle. He won the race in 46.89 while juniors
Michael Southward and
Matija Rafaj took second and third.
Graduate transfer
Yann Corbel took home the win in the 1,000 freestyle in 9:38.29 while Rafaj won the 200 freestyle after touching the wall in 1:44.83.
Klimczak picked up his first victory of the year in the 50 backstroke after racing down the pool in 25.03.
The final two individual wins came in the 500 freestyle and the 50 butterfly. Freshman
Filip Bjorkholm won the 500 in 4:40.96 while Daniel took home the 50 in 23.69.
The Lions also won the 200 freestyle relay as junior
Christian Cioffi, junior
Luka Vulic, Southward and Daniel teamed up to post a time of 1:25.07.
The Lions will be back in action in a few weeks on Nov. 17-18 with a pair of dual meets at Tampa.
