SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 14 Saint Leo men's swimming team won 13 of 14 events Saturday morning as they knocked off No. 7 Florida Southern 163.50-98.50. Freshman
Hampus Lovinge continued his impressive rookie campaign as he won three individual events and led off the winning 200 medley relay.
Lovinge joined forces with junior
Henrik Dahrendorff, freshman
Matthew Daniel and junior
Michael Southward to win the opening 200 medley relay in 1:33.24. Lovinge went on to win the 100 backstroke (50.05), 200 backstroke (1:50.55) and the 200 individual medley (1:50.79).
Dahrendorff was a two-time individual winner as he took both the 100 and 200 breaststroke. He touched in 55.13 in the 100 and 2:00.88 in the 200.
Distance specialist
Matija Rafaj won both the 500 and 1,000 freestyle as he stopped the clock in 9:35.09 in the 1,000 and 4:38.60 in the 500.
Freshman
Filip Bjorkholm took home the win in the 200 butterfly after touching in 1:52.24. Junior
Christian Cioffi won the 50 freestyle in 21.53 while junior
Luka Vulic won the 100 freestyle in 46.58.
The final individual winner for the Lions was Daniel who won the 100 butterfly after touching in 51.62.
Cioffi, sophomore
Fridtjov Mork, Southward and Vulic teamed up to win the final event of the afternoon, the 400 freestyle relay, as they combined to turn in a time of 3:05.29.
The Lions will be back in action next Friday at 4 p.m. as they travel to Sunshine State Conference foe Rollins for a dual.
