MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's swimming team closed out the 2018 regular season at Florida Tech, with two wins against the Panthers and Lynn Fighting Knights. The Lions posted a 136-116 win over Florida Tech while sneaking past Lynn, 131-128. Saint Leo will head to the Sunshine State Conference Championships with a 6-2 overall record.
Natalia Garriock showcased a 100 Yard Freestyle 'B' Cut time of 51.69 in the Panther Aquatic Center. In addition, she won the 100 Yard Backstroke against the two Sunshine State Conference opponents with a final time of 58.93. She also earned a third place finish in the 200 Yard Individual Medley (2:09.84).
The 400 Yard Medley Relay team made up of
Maftuna Tuhtasinova,
Annie Lindstrom,
Natalia Garriock and
Matalin Shaver earned the first place title with a time of 3:56.39.
Tuhtasinova went on to win the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:09.18) and a post a second place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:57.89), along with a fourth place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with
Alyssa McNamara,
Sidney Martin and
Olga Britton (1:45.65).
Lindstrom and Shaver tallied a second team event win in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with
Zofia Pilarska and
Karina Kolb (1:37.95).
The Sunshine State Conference Championships held in Clearwater, Fla. will begin on Thursday, February 22.
