SAINT LEO, Fla. –
Kyran McClure would go 2-for-2 at the free throw line with 11.9-seconds remaining in overtime to hand the Saint Leo men's basketball team a 76-75 overtime win against the visiting Sailfish. The win pushes the two teams to a season spilt, with both teams winning on their home court.
The Lions trailed 75-71 with two minutes to play before ending the game on a 6-0 run, to complete the comeback. The win also snaps a five-game skid for the Green and Gold.
"We are still working on things, but as a staff we are glad the guys battled back and got this win," Head Coach
Vince Alexander stated. "We still have to focus on the little things, but tonight, we feel that the guys fought hard at the end and earned a tough win. Hopefully this swings momentum heading on the road to Florida Southern Wednesday, but we will continue to teach this young group of guys moving forward."
DeAndre King scored a game-high 24 points on 9-of-19 shooting including a 5-for-9 performance from downtown. King was one rebound shy of a double-double, leading the team with nine on the night.

How It Happened…
1H | The first half between the Saint Leo Lions and Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish saw two lead changes and zero ties. The Sailfish came out first and claimed a four point lead, four times before heading to the first timeout up by two, 8-6.
Kyran McClure drained a three-pointer and hit a jumper to score five unanswered points as the Green and Gold clawed into the lead, 16-12 with 11:52 to play.
DeAndre King would nail three three-pointers and a layup as he scored 11 straight points for the Lions before
Daniel Duarte hit a free throw to push the Lions ahead by their largest lead of 12, 33-21 with 6:38 to play. The Sailfish would cut the deficit heading into the break as the Lions held a five-point lead at halftime. | Saint Leo 36-31 |
2H | The Lions came out and ran their lead to eight, 48-40 on a
Junior Searcy three-pointer with 15:58 to play. The Sailfish would fight and cut it to one, 48-47 on a Grant Gullett layup, before the Lions ran back out to a four-point lead, twice at 51-47 and 53-49 after two
Drago Popovic's free throws. PBA would use Saint Leo turnovers to tie the game at 53-53 and 55-55, before taking a 58-57 lead with 9:06 to play. The Sailfish pushed it to four, 61-57 before the Popovic's jumper in the paint cut it to 61-59 at the media timeout with 7:40 to play. After the two teams went into the final media timeout tied 64-64 with 3:50 to play. The Lions went on a 7-0 run to take a 68-64 lead with 2:11 to play after
Pape Ngom blocked a shot and stole the next pass to stop the Sailfish.
A quick 5-0 run for the Sailfish allowed PBA to take a 69-68 lead. The Lions forced a turnover on defense before
Isaiah Hill sank one free throw to tie it with 22.1-seconds left. With 1.7-seconds left, PBA and Saint Leo would both burn a timeout with the Sailfish in possession of the ball on their offensive half. Palm Beach Atlantic would get a shot off before the final buzzer, but it would bounce and and send the game to overtime. | Tied 69-69 |
