WINGATE, N.C. – A pair of Lees-McRae goals in the span of five minutes late in the first half allowed the Bobcats to post a 3-1 win over Saint Leo men's soccer, in a neutral-site game played at Wingate University's Pride Park.
Bryce Wilson accounted for Saint Leo's lone score in the 39th minute, burying a shot in the back of a wide-open Lees-McRae goal off a pass from Till Lammertz.
Taylor Gray, Tom Deeley, and Nathan Watt accounted for the Lees-McRae markers, with Deeley scoring on a penalty kick in the 37th minute. Watt's score came in the game's waning minutes as Saint Leo was pushing players forward in search of the game-tying goal.
Lees-McRae outshot Saint Leo, 20-4, with a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal. Each team charted 13 fouls, while the Bobcats were whistled for offsides three times to the Lions' two. Lees-McRae also had seven corner kick opportunities to one for Saint Leo.
